Written after a jokey comment really for a bet. In a conversation a friend commented that he had been doing a little bit of this and that. I replied, "sounds like a cue for a song", to which he replied, "Well go on then".
What could I say, I had my fender around my neck and quickly knocked out the first verse and chorus - the rest followed easily.
THE ONE WHO SANG THE SONG
An acoustic version of a country rock song, written many moons ago in my youth. Part of the series I started when I first learned that a favourite cousin had been diagnosed with a terminal cancer. As they are very old, I usually haven't performed them in many years, and I give myself a chance to run through the song once or twice before recording on my digital camera, so please forgive any mistakes.
Raw and unpolished, usually a single take of an unrehearsed performance.
